How to get to Kampung Tekek, Tioman Island

Tioman island is located off the East coast of Malaysia. It falls under the jurisdiction of the state of Pahang and within the Rompin district. Following are the information on its location and the various dive sites around Tioman island.

How To Get to Tioman

There are various mode to get to Tioman island. The most popular and cheapest way is via ferry from either the 2 jetties on the mainland, namely Tanjung Gemok and Mersing. At the point of this writing, there is only one main ferry operator that provides the ferry service to and fro i.e. Blue Water Express. The other mode is via flight from either Singapore or Kuala Lumpur airports. The only company that operates these flights is Berjaya Air. The following information provides the details and information with regard to these 2 modes.


By Flights

The flight to Tioman island takes about approximately 40 mins. It caters for guests who not only intending to stay at Berjaya Resort in Tioman but also other general guests. The only airport in Tioman is located in Kampung Tekek which is the capital town in Tioman Island. For more information about flight bookings and price, please visit Berjaya website at

2. Reservation can be made online at their website and tickets need to be collected in advance before departure.
All flights land at Kampung Tekek airport in Tioman and if you make prior arrangement with us about your flights details, we can arrange for a pickup from the airport in Tioman to East Divers Tioman. Alternatively, East Divers Tioman is only 10 minutes walk from the airport

By Ferry
Blue Water Express operates from both Mersing (State of Johor) and Tanjung Gemuk (State of Pahang) jetty. You can get to the jetty by any mode of land transport including driving there yourself. There are public carparks that are relatively safe to park your vehicle.
A) Getting to Mersing Jetty from Singapore -
1) Transnasional buses travel direct from Singapore to Mersing.
Departure is from Kallang Bahru/Lavender Street junction (lorry parking area) at 9am, 10am and 10pm.

2) Pan Malaysia Express.

3) Five Star coaches
Departure details: leaves from the Golden Mile Complex at 6:30am every day.
4) Travel into Johor taking the Singapore-Johore Express from the terminal at Queen St/Ban San St and alight at Larkin Bus Terminal (LBT) in Johor.
Price: S$ 2.40, aircon.
From LBT, take Adikberadkik Express service at 9.00am, 10.00am, 9.00pm and 10.30pm (ticket counters no 6 & 30) or Transnasional service at 10.00 am, 11.00am, 10.30pm and 11.00 pm.
5) You can also take a taxi at Rochor Bus Terminal on Ban San Street to LBT for S$ 28. From there take the Malaysian Taxi to Mersing for RM100 - RM130 per taxi hire to Mersing which takes between 2 - 3 hours.
At Mersing Jetty
At Mersing, take the blue water ferry services to Tioman. Make sure you check what time is your ferry before hand so that you can time your travel to reach Mersing on time. You have to buy a 2 way ticket to go and back.They do not depart on a regular basis, but are dependent on tide levels. The journey takes around 2 hours but depends on sea conditions. Tickets are RM 80 return. As the ferry stops at a couple of Jetties in Tioman, your destination in Tioman is
Kampung Tekek.

B) Getting to Tanjung Gemuk Jetty from Kuala Lumpur -
1) From KL to Tanjung Gemuk - If you are coming from KL, Tanjung Gemuk is a nearer jetty from KL. All buses from KL to Mersing will stop at Tanjung Gemuk first. Just ask the bus driver to alight you at Tanjung Gemuk.

2) If you intend to drive to Tanjung Gemuk from KL, from the North-South Highway exits at Seremban and follow the Kluang route. Drive towards Kuala Pilah, Muadzam Shah and along the coastal road.
At Tanjung Gemuk Jetty
